A Custom Cocktail Bar on Wheels.
For Sean Umstead of Kingfisher in Durham, North Carolina, we built a 17-foot bar trailer with room for a full cocktail setup, eight draft selections and the equipment to keep service moving. Its rounded profile and deep teal finish give it the character of a classic camper, with a working bar built inside.
Sean chose Sherwin-Williams Blue Peacock for the exterior and lower cabinetry, paired with brass cabinet hardware. White window frames break up the color, while natural wood countertops and open shelving bring warmth to the interior. With the large service hatch raised, guests can see straight into the bar.
The layout developed around how Sean’s team planned to work. We placed the cocktail station and draft equipment along the service side so bartenders could prepare drinks while facing guests. Refrigeration, a freezer, a secondary ice well and cabinet storage fit around that central workspace, leaving counter space for preparation and a frozen drink machine.
Two four-faucet towers provide eight draft lines. Sean wanted the flexibility to offer a varied selection, so the draft system became an important part of the build rather than an accessory added at the end.
Behind the counter, the stainless cocktail station brings the ice well, bottle storage and preparation area together. A separate hand sink and a 20-gallon fresh-water tank support the plumbing, which we grouped along one side to make room for the rear refrigerator. Open wood shelves provide additional space above the counters, and rooftop air conditioning serves the enclosed workspace.
The finished trailer balances the rich color and warm wood of a welcoming bar with the practical equipment needed behind it. Completed in spring 2025 and shipped to Durham, it left our shop ready for Sean and his team to add their own Kingfisher touches.
